1st. FESTIVAL FOR THE INTERNATIONAL EARTH DAY

“REFORESTATION THROUGH CULTURE AND
CONSCIOUSNESS”

Thanks to the support of the local organizations who resonates with our values , we create a calendar of activities in the city to generate a map of green spots per each organization participant.

United as a Playa del Carmen community where collectives, independent organizations, community centers, artist and activist who are aware of the importance of caring and preserving the land and culture together to celebrate a tribute to our MOTHER EARTH.

MAIN PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS:

A group of volunteers focused on the development of speleology and citizen science, to achieve the conservation of the underground environments of the Yucatan Peninsula, through their social appropriation. They call for the cleaning and dignifof the city cenotes, currently around 100 cenotes that have been affected by the construction of massive housing complexes have been cleaned, as well as educational campaigns for children, caving for children “BICHEADA” where they travel through the jungle to show the wealth of insects that inhabit it and “CUEVEADA” where they make visits open to the general public explaining the antiquity of the rock formations as well as the biodiversity that exists within the caves.

Organization of citizens who love Mother Earth. We seek to spread the rational, intelligent and sustainable use of natural resources. Dedicated to reforesting the city with voluntary tree planting campaigns in different places that have been affected by the excessive deforestation of virgin forest for the construction of housing complexes, as well as having a “Museum of Living Trees” program where they make visits to the specimens of ancestral trees to raise awareness about their historical, cultural and biodiversity value, placing an informative plaque at the foot of them.

Group of activists who work for the conservation of wildlife and the environment, through comprehensive actions such as environmental education, research, rescue, monitoring and rehabilitation of wildlife. Environmental education: They give talks and share experiences in schools, ejidos, events and festivals with educational material and/or presentations, where photos or videos obtained in the monitoring are shared. Through this tool, they aim to raise awareness and propose concrete actions, both for children and adults, in order to change many of our daily actions aimed at the conservation of our environment.

Trigonario urbano cab. Hospital to the rescue of stinger bees. Space for the protection of endangered melipona bees using Mayan techniques to harvest melipona honey without profit.

A la Verde. Small vegetarian food place that promotes the creation of city gardens, a small producer market and cultural activities.

Somos Avalon Riviera Maya. Healing center through music, singing and cocoa and corn ceremonies. Uniting the community through ancestral practices to generate a community based on respect, tolerance and balance between man and his environment.

PULMON VERDE – SANAM-HA. We work to protect
the last green lung of the city that contains all the ecosystems and species in danger of extinction, it is a conservation space on the coastal strip where educational and cultural activities are promoted to raise awareness about the importance of caring for this last green spot in the city.
